The Washington County native lived most of her life in Emanuel County. She was a homemaker, a Baptist and the widow of Gordon Cecil Womack.
SURVIVORS: two sons, Pete Womack of Louisburg, N.C., and Cecil Womack of Swainsboro; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Hart Womack, 73, died Saturday afternoon at Memorial Medical Center of Savannah after a brief illness. The native and life long resident of Bulloch County was a homemaker. Mrs. Womack was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church where she was a member of the W.M.U. and the Senior Adult Sunday School Class. Surviving are her husband, Noyce L. Funeral service for Mrs. Womack will be held Monday at 3 p.m. at the Oak Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Ray Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be George Black, Walter Street, Juvay Finch, Larry Lanier, Douglas Lee and Ted Vickery.
The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

97, of 710 Julian Road, formerly of 200 N. Salisbury Ave. in Spencer, died
Tuesday, April 11, 1995, at Meridian Health Care Center in Salisbury.
Born July 20, 1897 in Hillsborough to the late Catherine Louzanie Lloyd Andrews
and Romulus Emmitt Andrews, she was educated in the Spencer City Schools and
Salisbury Business College. She had been the Town Clerk for the city of Spencer
and was employed by Oestreichers Dept. Store. She was a member of the First
Baptist Church of Spencer and had attended the Rocky Knoll Baptist Church in
Greensboro. She was a member of the Spencer Women's Club and the Railroad
Trainman Auxiliary. Her husband, Aubrey C. Womack
preceded her in death in 1937.
She is survived by a son, Mr. Jerry R. Womack of
Pinehurst and a daughter, Mrs. Sara W. Halsey of Greenwood, S.C.; 12
grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Summersett Memorial Chapel with the Rev.
Franklin Myers, pastor of Spencer First Baptist Church, officiating and burial
to follow in Chestnut Hill cemetery. Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Friday at the
funeral home, prior to the service.

MATTHEWS — Emmie Hearne Horton Womack, 88, 600 Fullwood Lane, died Friday (Feb. 4, 2000) at Carrington Place.Born Sept. 10, 1911, in Albemarle, she was a daughter of the late Harris Leonidas Horton Sr. and
Ethel Inez Hearne Horton.Mrs. Womack was a homemaker and graduate of Albemarle City Schools and Duke University. She belonged to Myers Park United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and was past president of the Aldergate Sunday School Class. She grew up Central United Methodist Church in Albemarle.
Her husband, James Hubert Womack, preceded her in death.
Survivors include son James Horton Womack Jr., Monroe; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Hartsell Funeral Home’s Lefler Memorial Chapel, Albemarle, conducted by the Rev. Ben Wilson. Burial, Stanly Memorial Gardens of Memory, Albemarle.

324 Bradley Road,died July 10, 2001, at Hospice of Charlotte.
Born Feb. 12, 1912, she was a daughter of Wiley and Bertha Neal White.
She was married to Hester Womack, who predeceased her. She was a member of
CampGrove Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, William "Billy" Womack of Charlotte,
N.C., Robert"Bobby" Ingram of Timberlake, N.C. and Mohammed A. Ali
Ozell of Washington and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Camp Grove BaptistChurch
with the Rev. Willie Sehmen officiating. Interment will follow at OakHill
Cemetery.

BURLINGTON — Mrs. Judith L. Barnes, 60, of 2311 W. Front
St., died at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000, at Alamance Regional Medical Center
after a short illness.
A native of Mecklenburg County, she was the wife of Mr. G.E. "Ed"
Barnes, who survives, and the daughter of Mr. William Edward Womack and Mrs.
Iberia Beatrice Tadlock Womack, both deceased. She was an interior designer and
former co-owner and operator of Kay Day Morton Interiors. She was a former
volunteer with the Alamance Suicide Crisis Program and was formerly active with
Hospice of Alamance-Caswell. She was a member of the First United Methodist
Church of Graham, the United Methodist Women Circle No. 5, the Gordon Painter
Sunday School Class and the Chancel Choir.
Survivors other than her husband of the home include three daughters, Dr. Rita
Plemmons of Erwin, Tenn., Ms. Leslie Treanor of the home and Dr. Jorjanna Kelley
of Graham; two sons, Mr. Gregor Treanor of Naples, Fla., and Mr. Charles Barnes
of Greensboro; a sister, Mrs. Sylvia Wright of Montgomery, Ala.; a brother, the
Rev. Stephen Womack of Macon, Ga.; and four grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church
of Graham by the Rev. G. Paul Phillips, pastor.

Mr. Womack was a barber for many years before
becoming a developer and building contractor. He developed the land that is now Womack
Estates in Lillington.

both of Broadway; and two brothers, Edsel Womack of
Broadway, and Garner Womack of Climax.

Mr. Terrell G. Womack, 92, a
resident of Friends Home, Greensboro, formerly of High Point, died Saturday, May
11, 1996. He was born April 12, 1904 in Catawba County, N.C. to Lee and
Erah Womack. He moved to High Point in 1922 and in
1929 he joined the High Point Fire Dept. From 1942 to 1945, he served in the
U.S. Air Force as an air plane mechanic. After the war, he resumed his
service with the High Point Fire Dept. until his retirement in 1969. Mr. Womack
was a life long Methodist and was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist
Church and the Peacock Bible Class. He is survived by his sister, Mrs.
Mary W. Alexander of Winston-Salem and one brother, Oscar F. Womack
of Danbury, Conn.
Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Sechrest Chapel on E. Lexington Ave.
by Dr. Julian M. Aldridge, Jr. Burial will be in Floral Gardens Park

Wednesday morning in her home.

Mrs. Womack was born Nov. 26, 1946, in Mooresville,
the daughter of Ben L. and Ruby P. Holland, Sr., who survive. She was a
homemaker and a resident of Raleigh for 26 years. In addition to her
parents, she is survived by her husband, William C. 'Bill' Womack,
Sr., with Monroe Hardware; son, W. Clark Womack,
Jr. of Raleigh; brother and sister-in-law, Lawson and Cathy Holland of
Gainesville, Fla.; nephew, Jake Holland, and niece, Katie Holland, both of
Gainesville, Fla. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Thursday at

SANFORD -- Mrs. Vera Yarbrough Womack, 86, of 110 11th Street died Thursday in Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford.
She was a licensed practical nurse, a member of Jonesboro Presbyterian Church and the American Association of Retired Persons and was a volunteer with the bloodmobile.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Jonesboro Presbyterian Church by the Rev. David McDonald. Burial will be in Lee Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Womack is survived by a son, Gene Womack of Sanford; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Dester S. Armstrong of 2138 McConnell Rd. died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, at
her residence.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, at Emmanuel United

Born in Piney Ridge, she was the wife of the late Theodore Duvelt Armstrong, and

Church of Christ.
Survivors include a daughter, Gloria Brown (Frederick) of Greensboro; sister,

and one great-grandson, Stephen Justice Womack. The

JAMESTOWN - At the request of a man who owns a funeral service for animals, a
weekly newspaper now offers a service for pets previously limited to humans - a
free obituary.
"I'd never thought of it before, and I thought, 'Why not? That would be
great because people love their pets so much,"' said Charles Womack,
editor and publisher of the Jamestown News.
The first pet obituary appeared in the Jamestown News on Feb. 16 for Duke, a
boxer owned by John and Pam Meredith of High Point. The Jamestown News will publish photos with the pet death notices, which are not
limited to dogs and cats, Mr. Womack said.

GREENSBORO — Mr. Philip Alonzo Burton of 312 W. Terrell St.,
died Saturday, June 26, 1999, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.
He was the husband of Mrs. Teresa W. Burton, who survives, and the son of Ms.

Mr. Leo Maurice Cardwell, Sr. of 4503 Southall Drive, Greensboro departed this life on March 13, 1996, at Moses Cone Hospital. He was a life long resident of Greensboro. He is survived by his loving wife, Jessie Womack Cardwell of the home. His children include Mrs. Cynthia Alston, Ft. Worth, Texas, Mr. Leo M. Cardwell, Jr., Saginaw, Mich., Michael Anthony and Sharon Lynne of Greensboro respectively. His family also includes Mrs. Louise C. Cardwell, stepmother and a sister, Mrs. Delores C. Tate, Greensboro. His youngest brother, Mr. Roland O. Cardwell resides in St. Louis, Mo. There are five grandsons, a mother-in-law, Mrs. Mary B. Womack, Greensboro and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Carolyn Cardwell, Philadelphia, Pa. His homegoing service will be celebrated on Monday, March 18 at 3:30 p.m. at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 200 N. Care Center.
He was born in Wilmington, N.C., on May 31, 1914, the son of the late Robert

brother, Russell D. Stone and his sister, Rosalie S. Wommack;

Mr. Spencer Wommack White,
Greensboro Attorney, died at his home Sunday, Aug. 27, 1995, after a lengthy
illness. He was 54 years old. Memorial service will be held Wednesday, 4
p.m. at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Greensboro. The family will receive
friends tonight from 7-9 p.m. at their home. Mr. White had practiced law
in Greensboro for 25 years and was a partner in the law firm of Barefoot, White
and Barbour. He graduated from Scotland Neck High School and from the
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with an AB in journalism. After
graduating from UNC in 1963, he attended Naval Officer Candidate School at
Newport, Rhode Island and served as a Naval Officer until 1967. Following his
discharge from the Navy, he attended law school at the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill. He receive his Juris Doctor in 1970 and began
practicing law in Greensboro. He is survived by his wife, Marjene D. White
of the home; Sarah Spencer White of Boulder, Colo.; daughter, Emily Jean White
and son, Braxton Russell White of the home; his mother, Irma Wommack
White of Scotland Neck; brothers, Allen A. White Jr. and Charles E. White of
Raleigh; sisters, Mary Eliza Davis of Raleigh and Irma Laura White of
Marshallburg.
